The Malawi Confederation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) has proudly attained membership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), marking a significant milestone in its ongoing efforts to enhance Malawi’s business environment and promote international trade.
The ICC is the institutional representative of more than 45 million companies in 170 countries. Its core mission is to make business work for everyone, every day, everywhere. Through a unique mix of advocacy, solutions, and standard setting, the ICC promotes international trade, responsible business conduct, and a global approach to regulation. Additionally, the ICC provides market-leading dispute resolution services.
As a member of the ICC, MCCCI will enjoy a multitude of benefits designed to enhance the MCCCI ability to navigate today’s global markets.
One of the most significant advantages is the connection to the world’s largest business organization, which includes influential and dynamic companies, as well as leading experts in international trade and dispute resolution. This network provides MCCCI with privileged links to major intergovernmental organizations, including the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, and the G20/B20.
Moreover, the ICC membership allows MCCCI to contribute to ICC business positions that are advocated to governments worldwide, through a network of ICC National Committees in over 90 countries.
MCCCI will also participate in drafting rules and standards that help reduce costs and uncertainties in world trade, such as the Incoterms Rules and the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP).
Through ICC’s 12 global commissions, covering areas like arbitration and ADR, banking, customs, intellectual property, environment, anti-corruption, taxation, and the digital economy, MCCCI will have access to cutting-edge insights and developments and be eligible to participate in these commissions, influencing the rules and guidelines issued by the ICC and collaborating with an international group of peers in specific fields of interest.
Additionally, ICC membership grants MCCCI invitations to various events, meetings, webinars, and more, both locally and internationally. As an ICC member, MCCCI will benefit from discounts on exclusive ICC events, ICC Academy online courses, and ICC Publications, thereby enhancing their skills and expanding their networks.
This membership will open doors for MCCCI members to participate in global business forums, gain insights into best practices, and collaborate with other chambers of commerce worldwide. It will also provide a platform for MCCCI to advocate for Malawian businesses on a global stage.
